How Shakespeare Came to Write Plays

A new book called Will in the World by Stephen Greenbatt looks at the origins of Shakespeare -- how he came to be the tremendous storyteller we all know. Greenblatt was also a consultant for the popular Shakespeare in Love movie. The Christian Science Monitor reports that Greenblatt looked through the entire historical, paper and gossip trail to find what inspired Shakespeare -- including Lord Chamberlain's Men group of playwrights and the works of Christopher Marlowe. The Monitor says Will in the World, "explains this extraordinary phenomenon with comprehensive evidence, skillful argument, and gracefully supple style."
