Knopf to Publish Justice Sotomayor's Memoir

Justice SotomayorSupreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's memoir will be published by Alfred A. Knopf. The book, as yet untitled, will be a coming-of-age memoir by Sotomayor, an American daughter of Puerto Rican immigrants. Sotomayor will write about growing up in the South Bronx, her relationship with her mother and the loss of her father when she was nine years old. She will also discuss her inspiration as a young girl to become a lawyer and her journey to Princeton University (on a full scholarship) and later to Yale Law School. She will also write about her appointment to the federal bench.

The book will be edited by George Andreou, Vice-President and Senior Editor at Alfred A. Knopf. It will be published simultaneously in a Spanish-language edition by Vintage Espanol.

"I am honored to be working with the distinguished publishing house of Alfred A. Knopf on the publication of my memoir," said Justice Sotomayor.

Memoirs by Supreme Court Justices can make big money. The Wall Street Journal says Justice Clarence Thomas has earned more than $1 million from his 2007 memoir.
