Hard Choices by Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton's new memoir is called Hard Choices. The title was revealed by publisher Simon & Schuster. The memoir covers Hillary's four years as Secretary of State. It is being released as Hillary is considering running for President of the United States. Hard Choices will arrive in bookstores on June 10th, 2014.

Simon & Schuster released the first two sentences of the memoir. Hillary writes, "All of us face hard choices in our lives. Life is about making such choices. Our choices and how we handle them shape the people we become."

Hillary Clinton was asked by newly elected President Barack Obama, her rival during the hard fought Democratic Party nomination, to serve in his administration as Secretary of State. During her tenure she visited 112 different countries and traveled nearly one million miles.

Some of the events covered in the book include winding down two wars and the global financial crisis. Hillary's four years as Secretary of State occurred during major revolutions that swept across the Middle East. Other topics include the hunt for Osama bin Laden and threats from Iran and North Korea. Some of the global trends during Hillary's tenure included gay rights, climate change and economic inequality.

Simon & Schuster provided this description of Hillary's memoir: "Drawing on conversations with numerous leaders and experts, Secretary Clinton offers her views on what it will take for the United States to compete and thrive in an interdependent world. She makes a passionate case for human rights and the full participation in society of women, youth, and LGBT people. An astute eyewitness to decades of social change, she distinguishes the trendlines from the headlines and describes the progress occurring throughout the world, day after day."

Hard Choices is available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
