Author Myke Cole discusses his new series, Shadow Ops. Army officer Oscar Britton is a lieutenant in the military's Supernatural Operations Corps (SOC). Cole says he has worked at the Pentagon and defense institutions, which taught him that there is a culture of conservatism, rigidity and internal suspicion in the military. He says this idea combined with his nerdiness - like thinking "what if there was an elf here" as he walked the halls of the Pentagon - helped provide the genesis for the series. Take a look:
