Stephen King Reads From Dr. Sleep, His Sequel to The Shining

Stephen King has been working on a sequel to his 1977 novel, The Shining. King read from the new novel, Dr. Sleep, during his acceptance of the Mason Prize at George Mason University last week. In the novel, Jack Torrance's son, Danny Torrance, faces a wandering group of psychic vampires. Take a look:



The release date of the book is not known, but Stephen King's website does contain the following update that the novel, Dr. Sleep, is in the works:

It's now official--Stephen is working on Dr. Sleep, the sequel to The Shining. This weekend Steve read an excerpt from this at his appearance at George Mason University. They have given us permission to post their taping of the event here on Steve's site which we will do as soon as we receive the file. Dr. Sleep's plot includes a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe which is part of the passage he read from.
