Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury

R.L. Stine has a special message for kids this summer. Stine is part of Scholastic's "Power Up & Read!" event which encourages kids to read lots of books this summer. He is one of 13 authors that wrote an original short story for the publisher's Summer Reading Challenge program.

In this video, Stine talks about what he liked to read as a child and how a very special librarian introduced him to one of his favorite authors. Stine says, "When I was your age, I read nothing but comic books. I had a big stack of comic books and a lot of scary books, too."

He was at the library when a librarian noticed him and all his comics. She told Stine, "You like comics so much, I bet you'll like these books." Stine continues, "And she took me to a shelf of Ray Bradbury science fiction stories. I couldn't believe it. They were so imaginative, and so creative and had such great surprise endings. I've been reading Ray Bradbury ever since."

Stine then recommends that kids read a very scary book by Ray Bradbury called Something Wicked This Way Comes. He thinks they will love it. He also encourages kids to read all summer long and help break the record at Scholastic.
