This Dr. Seuss book tells the story of a girl named Mazie. The story is narrated by The Cat in the Hat. The story begins when Daisy grows a daisy from her head. Dr. Seuss uses his fun rhymes to tell the story.

The first two lines are: "It's hard to believe such a thing could be true, And I hope such a thing never happens to you." Yes, we certainly don't want children to start sprouting flowers.

Mayzie first notices the sprouting flower when she feels a twitch on the top of her head. Her classmates notice the daisy and start calling her "Daisy-Head Mayzie." The teacher blames the other students for sticking the daisy in her hair, but she realizes the flower is actually growing out of Daisy's head when she pulls on it and Mayzie says "Ouch!"

The entertaining story was also a television special produced by Hanna-Barbera.
