I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive by Steve Earle

Steve Earle will publish two books with Twelve, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing and the Hachette Book Group. One of the books will be a memoir and the other will be a novel. The acquisition was announced by Cary Goldstein, publish and editor-in-chief of Twelve.

Earle's memoir is described as a literary work with three acts. The first section will focus on meeting Townes Van Zandt and the complicated friendship and musical mentorship that ensued, taking place in Texas and Tennessee. The second section will center on bottoming out in Nashville, culminating in a prison sentence, during which Steve got clean. The third and final section will focus on recovery, starting around the recording of Train a Comin'.

Steve Earle's historical fiction novel will tell the story of a runaway slave who survived the battle of the Alamo.
